CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — Workers at the University of Virginia Health System are now sharing their pandemic experiences with the community.
In a five-part series called “Voices from the COVID Unit,” nurses are talking about what it was like taking care of COVID patients and the work that was done behind the scenes during the pandemic.
Every week, a new nurse will blog their own story.
Dr. Craig Kent, the CEO of UVA Health, says the series is dedicated to and shows gratitude for frontline staff who worked diligently through this tough year.
“It’s not a job. It’s a mission, it’s a passion for these [frontline workers],” he said. “To hear the stories and to hear the sacrifices, to understand the passion behind it, is really important.”
Kent says there’s only plans for a five-part-series right now, but officials are considering expanding the series to hear from all UVA Health employees.
Kent says they’re always looking for feedback or if people would like to show gratitude to UVA Health frontline workers, send an email to CK8AQ@hscmail.mcc.virginia.edu.
