Speaking on the Twitter row after taking charge, Chandrasekhar had said the ministry doesn’t operate on a unilateral basis. I have just taken the charge. The Ministry doesn’t operate on a unilateral basis and this has nothing to do with individual views and opinions. The Ministry will sit with the new Union Minister and address all these issues, he said about Twitter’s run-in with the government over the new IT Rules.

Earlier, in an affidavit filed before the Delhi High Court, the Central government informed that Twitter Inc had failed to fully comply with the new IT Rules laid down in February 2021, which came into effect on May 26. Under the new rules, they directed all major social media platforms operating in the country to appoint compliance officers in India, set up grievance response mechanisms, and takedown content within 36 hours of a legal order.

A three-time Rajya Sabha MP for Karnataka, Rajeev Chandrasekhar has served in areas such as urban governance and veteran and armed forces issues.

The 57-year-old Chandrasekhar has done his MTech in Computer Science from Illinois Institute of Technology along with the Advanced Management Program from Harvard University. He had enjoyed a long career as a successful entrepreneur across multiple industries.
