The latest US Drought Monitor was released this morning, and it does show improvement for Iowa.
Last week, 77.03% of Iowa was categorized as Abnormally Dry. This week (through Tuesday morning), 61.42% of the state is in that category.
Moderate drought was 45.06% last week compared to 34.88% this week. There’s also been a bit of improvement in the severe drought with 9.55% in that category, compared to 14.05% last week.
The rain falling across the state today will help put a little dent in the drought conditions in next week’s update.
Keep in mind, it take a little longer to get out of a drought.
